Extremely promising (Top 5%). You wouldn’t be surprised if they were accepted into MATS, ERA, or similar programs, hired at an AI safety lab, or joined top orgs like Anthropic, GDM, or a major policy institute within 1–2 years.

Very promising (Top 25%). You could imagine them reaching high-impact roles with further support. You’d likely recommend them for fellowships or internships.

Moderately promising (Middle 50%). They show genuine interest and some ability, but would need significant growth or clearer direction to contribute meaningfully.

Slightly promising (Bottom 25%). Some early strengths are visible, but it’s unclear whether they will pursue a path in AI safety/policy or develop the necessary skills.

Not promising (Bottom 10%). Based on their engagement, skills, or trajectory, you wouldn’t recommend further investment in their development within AI safety/policy.
